Ramble

Yay! Just got my books ordered for my summer courses. Not that I wanted to spend the money. But at least they are ordered and maybe they will be here early enough so that I can begin reading before the class begins.

Not much has been done today. I watched Maci again. She is fun to babysit. Anyways, since I watched her nothing really got accomplished. But since I kept up with the house chores throughout the week maybe I can get some more organizing done and still have time to enjoy my weekend.

St. Louis Animal Cruelty Case

Recently in St. Louis there was a case of animal abuse. Actually this area sees a lot of animal cruelty cases. However, this was pretty severe case. If you would like to read about it go to this link. Stray Rescue of St. Louis takes in these animals and has been trying to educate in an effort to bring awareness and put a stop to the cruelty. When the call came in for this case, Randy did what he does best. He went to save the dogs and what he found was a horrific scene of torture. Randy and his organization offered a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible. Despite the sadness of what happened in this house of horror there is good news a man has been arrested and charged. Here is the update. Let's hope that they he will be put behind bars for many years.

Walter Update

Remember, my post regarding Walter. Well he was unable to pull through the neglect and starvation he had been put through. R.I.P pretty boy.

Cars Land

I think this is awesome! A must for any little boy who loves the movie, Cars.

Early Morning

Awww... the birds are singing. I'm sure today will be a great day to get some things done. I need to go grocery shopping, pick up the house some and I thought about running to Quincy. However, I'm not sure if that will happen. I need to make some calls first.

Ugh I thought I posted this earlier this morning. Guess not.

Teddy and His Baby

Teddy is so funny. You got to love his personality. Although he can at times be at bit unpredictable with his behavior... for the most part he just loves to be loved ...and hoard things. Anyways, I went to get his water and food dish so that I could clean them this morning and I found that he had put his "baby" in the food dish. If you look closely you can see him watching his "baby" from the carrier.

When he heard me he came out to check on his "baby".
Yep "baby" was okay.

Turtle

Today Robert and I stopped to help this poor little turtle get to the other side of the road. But somehow the shell had gotten damaged. I'm not sure if it was hit or if the nearby tractor accidentally hit it with a blade. Whatever happened I hope it survives. We did what we could to help it at that time. I put it under a shade tree near the water. I'm not sure if it will make it. But when I went back to check on it after work (if it was still there I was going to see about taking it to the vet) the poor thing was gone. Hopefully, it will heal okay and not get an infection.

Babysitter's Club

Life is good. Counting down the days to I find a new job! Yay... so many reasons as to why I need a new job. But just trust me it's time.

Last week I had the chance to watch Cullen and Eden for a few hours. They were really good. After their nap we went outside and played some.

Here are some pictures of them playing "Ring around the Rosy".

Random shots.

I also got the chance to babysit Maci. Ty loved cuddling with her.

Bees and Dog Park

This past weekend was great. Although Saturday I was completely worn out by the end of the day and Sunday I had a headache that was trying to kill me.

Saturday we went to Quincy to run some errands. Since the errands would be rather quick we took Ty along so he could visit Petco and go to the dog park. He had so much fun that the rest of the day we heard nothing from him. I love when he gets to play because he doesn't worry about who is walking by that he can bark at.

After we got back I took Teddy on ride to deliver an invite to Matt's aunt. While we were visiting Teddy enjoyed his time out of the house.

Yesterday, we went to the Burlington Bees game. We had purchased some tickets for the community basket and you would receive an extra $1,000 if you were there to claim it. Anyways, we did not win... sad for us. A doctor did. The game was interesting and would have been much more enjoyable if my rear was not falling off from sitting in the stands for two hours. When we left the game was not even over...could you imagine if we would have stayed the whole time. Two hours was enough for me... I was glad to get out of there.

That wraps up our exciting weekend.

Dog Falls From Sky

Spay/Neuter?

Looking to get your furbaby spayed or neutered? Here is a wonderful shelter that provides a low cost spay/neuter program for those near Quincy, IL.

Many people do not get their animals fixed thinking it's no big deal. However, not only is there a chance of accidentally adding to the pet population, and with 800-900 pets dying every hour because of a race who over bred them it's ridiculous, but it provides them a better slate of health. Below is a list of benefits to having your pet fixed.

Cats - Male
  • Overall health improved, increasing longevity
  • Less marking resulting in fewer fights with other males, which could result in injury or transmission of disease or parasites
  • More likely to stay near home
  • Not at risk for testicular cancer
Cats - Female
  • Better health, resulting in longer longevity
  • Less likely to develop breast cancer
  • Not at risk for ovarian or uterine cancer
Dogs - Male and female (similar benefits to cats)
  • longer longevity
  • less cancer risk
  • dog urine odor not as strong
  • behavior may improve

A No Rush Day

Well the last couple of days have been quite nice. School is done and work is slow. It is nice to not be rushing everywhere but I do wish there was a little bit more to do at work so that I can still have a decent paycheck. But we all know with summer coming the condos will be getting busier. Plus, I have been looking for something more in my career field. We shall see what happens in the next couple of weeks.

Yesterday, I had an appointment and then I went to Tristan's sixth grade graduation program. It was fun. I got to see Colista, Eden and Cullen. Grandma was there. Tristan's graduation was not as long as Landon's so that was another plus. Landon's seemed to be way too long. My bum was killing me by the time Landon's got over. Anyways, after that I came home and did many things. It was great to just say oh I think I will do this and/or that.

Today there is not much to do at the condo's except odd end things to do and those can always be done on a day we are waiting for someone to checkout. So the goal for today is to pick up some, run to Nauvoo for a few errands and then back to the house to let the "boys" out. Then I will head to Carthage to watch Colista's kids. It will be a great day. I'm sure I will be completely worn out from Eden. Yesterday, she was all over the place. But it should be fun.

Other than that I plan on working in a post for my Nutrition Blog, doing some wedding planning...maybe, updating my journal, organizing computer files, playing some WOW with Matt tonight and I'm not sure what else. Should be a fun day.

And of course I have some dog news. According to a MSN post, after breeding and training military dogs many are being euthanized instead of brought back because they are deemed as equipment. How ridiculous is that? We teach them to protect us and then kill them. Another reason I think an alien race should come down and treat us the way we treat other races. Maybe then we would learn to love and protect them like they love and protect us.

Also 68 lovely huskies were rescued from a breeder. They had little care and were starving. To read their story click here.

Well that is all for now. I best get going so I can complete my errands before going to Colista's.

Last Day

Today I take my last exam for the semester. Then I get a month off. Thank GOD! Really. ... I am beginning to see that the last two years I've got to do nothing and I'm getting crazier. No joke. All I do is work, come home and freak out while trying to study. No fun! I think I've filled the crazy cup up... and it's overflowing with crazy.

The one thing that keeps me from going completely insane is Matt. I'm grateful that he puts up with me through all my studies. How he does it I don't know. Probably because he is the best fiance ever. He is always there to help me with whatever I need. And I never have to ask him to do anything because he can read my mind and do it without me asking... I swear he knows me better than I know myself.

Oh well the point is he is the best for surviving the crazy semesters with me and I love him.

Well I need to go prepare for my exam. Before I go let me post a video... and of course it's about dogs. But it has a good message about the importance of awareness. Won't lie you may need some tissues.

Unlikely Heroes

Today, I will tell you about a couple of amazing stories about heroes.... and they are not human heroes. They are dogs.

The first is here in the tri-states. Recently a woman began to have a seizure and since she is unable to control what happens to her when they occur she ended up with her head in the pillow. She could have suffocated and that would have been the end of the story. However, her poodle was there to save her life because in that moment this sweet dog continued to nudge her head allowing air to get to her.

Another story that has made headlines is in regards to the pit-bull who saved its owner from being hit by a train and in the process risked her own life

Great stories ...right? I think so. Good thing they had these sweet pets.

Lovely Day

My lovely day in a nutshell... I wake up half dead thanks to the storm last night. I'm about to walk out the door when I get a phone call asking if we could go in a little later since the other person (I won't mention names but majority of you know who I'm talking about) has physical therapy. Sure I can do that. Oh and by the way can you stop by and pick up the person who is staying with me...so they can work too. Okay I can do that I say. When I get there I find that the dog has a tick. How I'm I going to get it out... I've never had to deal with a tick. Well we worked something out and thought we may have gotten it but we were not for sure if the head came too. There was a big bump still in the skin. Is that normal? So I call and ask the person can you come check we will wait here with your dog to verify we got everything. Since the rooms don't have to be out til 11:00 no rush. We wait and wait. Nobody shows. I call and call no answer. Finally they pick up and I ask what's going on, where are you? Where was she at work working... and no big deal. She will take care of it later. First of all next time you have a tick I'll say no big deal... no worries we don't care if you get Lyme disease. Second, thanks for wasting forty minutes of my time waiting for you, especially on a day when I have an exam I could have been studying for instead of wasting time at your house taking care of your dog. It's rude to me as well as irresponsible in regards to your pet

So as my day goes on do you think it can get better? Of course not. Because as many of you know it is really annoying for me to have to work with this individual on a day to day basis. In fact I could live without seeing them everyday of my life. Once a week would be fine with me. Anyways, I'm on the phone talking about how one of the rooms is not out, which I've already said three times. And what do I hear "are they out yet". What the hell? I just said three times to you that I walked in and they had not checked out even though it was past check out time. Do you think they are going to disappear in thin area? Ugh... I need a new job.

As the day goes on I'm leaving the condos I see state cop. My family always warns each other in case we are out and about. Since my phone was dead I decide I'll go to Nauvoo and tell them. They were not there so I decided I'd go to the station and tell Ken. He wasn't there either. So back to the house I went and decided well I can just leave a note. I unlock the door and write the note... then came the fun part. I could not get the key out of the door I spent twenty minutes trying to get out. So I decided I'd go to Ken's house maybe he could help. Of course nobody home there either. Great... key still in door.

With that said I need to go do my homework so hopefully I can do good on my exam.

Ellen You Got To Love Her

Yesterday, I was about to sit down to study when Dr. Oz came on. He was talking about this new book called 50 Shades of Gray. Apparently, it's a rather sexual book. Anyways, later that night while Matt and I was watching television it was mentioned yet again. That's when Matt showed me this funny version of Ellen doing a reading for the book. It is hilarious.

Here is another funny video of her scaring Taylor Swift.

For the Love of Animals

It's stories like this that make me glad I support dog rescue groups. Wish I had more time to devote to the cause. There is so much I would do if I only had time... I would probably spend most of my time visit the shelters so that every animal would feel loved. Then I would try to help transport them too. I'd love to be a foster as well... but I don't want to take away from my dogs either, especially Teddy. It's hard to spend a lot of time with him anyways. So I would definitely not want to take away from him.

Father/Daughter Dance

I'm almost done with all these review notes for my test. Thank goodness.... I'm so ready to be done with this semester. It seems I never get to do what I want to do because I'm always spending my spare time doing homework. Ugh... tired of it and ready to enjoy life already. All I have done (especially the last three years) is do homework and get older. What fun is that? Oh well.

On another note, today I saw a couple cute father/daughter dances... I would never do it. But I think they are fun and cute. I'm just hoping that the reception venue is large enough especially the dance floor. Guess we will see and make the best of whatever.

Xenon DJ Services

We have a DJ. Woot! Xenon Sound will be taking care of the audio and reception events as well as the uplighting. Last night my parents, Matt and I met up with him in Carthage. He seemed really nice and had a really nice setup. So another item off our list of things to do.
