Busy Day

Today was a busy day for us! I went to work at the condo's for a little bit, then to watch Colista's kids while she had her ultrasound (yay...finally, it's a girl!) and back to Warsaw to get ready for Ethan's birthday party. On my way back to Nauvoo for Ethan's party I stopped at my parent's to help with some of their paperwork for the station.

While I was at the party having a blast Matt was sweating up a storm clearing more of the backstop. After the party I met up with him. Lucky for me he was finished for the day! So I took some pictures and watched him cleaning up. LOL.

Check out the amazing cake Joanne made!!

Some of the forms have been removed!

Work Continues...

We now have basement walls! The concrete guys were able to pour the walls today and with the forecast calling for sunny days through Thursday there will plenty of time for it to harden and they can begin work on the piping and pouring the floor.

Matt, Dick and I went back up to tackle the backstop removal job. Matt began by working on the fence while I cut down some small vines and branches (he let me use the sawzall, yikes!). Dick used the chainsaw to cut the big stuff out and we hooked a chain up to his truck to pull out part of the fence, a pole and a tree. We got a lot done and will probably be back up tomorrow to continue the job.

Yard Work

Our concrete contractor had the weekend off so we don't have any new pictures to share on the foundation progress but he has been working so hard and quick that we hope he was able to enjoy the fantastic weather!

Although we don't have any new house progress pictures to update, we do have some to share with you all on a little project we started ourselves! In a corner of our backyard there is an old back-stop from where a baseball field once was. There are a lot of trees and vines tangled up in this old fence and the posts are rotting! Matt and Dick went up there today and started work on cutting them out and getting the fence down. Robert and I joined them later and helped pull out a lot of vines and piled up the cut stuff for burning later. Weenie roast!!!

Day 5

Today, the concrete guys got the majority of inner wall forms up to *hopefully* pour the concrete on Monday. But today wasn't that easy for Matt and I. Matt received an early phone call from the concrete contractor asking if any windows needed to be installed in the basement. Matt told him that the Hamilton codes didn't mention anything about it and the building inspector never said it was required. Matt had to make a phone call to the building inspector and to his surprise, Hamilton adopted the 2006 International Building Codes that require at least one egress window in a sealed basement!

So, Matt spent the entire morning making phone calls trying to find out the requirements for this window while I looked through the Hamilton building codes and online for information. We were acting like lunatics looking for answers!! Matt finally found the information and let the concrete contractor know what they were and we think everything is squared away.

Ty keeps us busy when we are not spending our time on the house. Sorry I couldn't figure out how to rotate the picture.
