On a more positive note... more wedding planning today. Brittany (my matt's brothers fiance), my mom and I are going to a bridal fair in Quincy. Yay! Hopefully we can square some things away.

Can't Sleep!!!

Ugh... I can't sleep. So I'm up checking on all my favorite pups and doing some wedding planning. Mainly looking for videographers in the Niagara area. That is one of the main things I want. I think it would be nice to have a video of the whole wedding and a highlight video that way when I lose my mind from old age at least I will have a video to help me remember my wedding day. LOL. Anyways, if they got it done in time, but I don't want to rush them and get crap, it could be played at the reception. That would be fun for those who weren't able to go... I think.

However, holy cow I'm going to have to take out a loan just to have someone video my wedding. Most of the companies I looked at start at around 6,000. Crap almighty. I did find one I liked that, http://www.pgpwedding.com/, that starts at 3,400. There were some others I inquired about because no rates were listed. We shall see what they say.

By the way I'm sure their prices are not far out there... it's just I must have been in fairy world when I thought we could plan a wedding for around 5,000 for everything other than the bus to Niagara.

What A Night!!

Frustration...that's what tonight has been. I've been trying all night to get my template the way I want it. I finally have what I want thanks to my lovely fiance. He is great...I'd lose my mind without him.

Hero

One of the amazing rescues I follow is http://alleysangels.org/ . They rescue huskies, that would otherwise be killed, from shelters in the California area. I'm amazed at their work. Not only do they rescue the cute adoptable huskies they have saved several huskies that had no chance due to medical problems.

One husky in particular that they rescued was Hero, a five week old puppy who was dumped three days after Christmas. Hero has seizures and was due to be euthanized when Alley's group rescued him. Medication has not been working or the right dosage to control them has not been found. Today a MRI is being done. Hopefully, that will shed some light on the medical problem.

The bad news is with all the other huskies this group has taken in they are in need of donations to help care for Hero. An artist was commissioned to draw a portrait of Hero to help raise funds for his medical expenses. Each portrait cost $25. They are personalized, signed by the artist and sent to you via email. Update on Hero

Update on Hero. He had his MRI today and was able to get a diagnosis. He has a pocket of fluid on his brain. In order to fix this he needs to have a surgery that will cost between 7000-9000. The rescue can't afford it and he will continue to decline without it. So Hero's fans are doing all they can to work a miracle. However, if the funds are not reached then Hero will have to be put to sleep to go play at the Rainbow Bridge.

Update on Hero

Thanks to a very generous donor, who put 4,000 dollars toward his surgery! Hero was able to have his surgery today. Over 1,000 dollars was raised. They need about 1,700 more to cover his balance.

Catching Up Once Again

Work has slowed down for me. I'm not sure if that is a good thing as I enjoy working because it keeps me busy. Plus we could use the extra income. Anyways, since work has slowed down, at least for the next couple of weeks, I thought I would take the time to update the blog.

Last week was my first week of classes for the semester. I'm really excited for this semester as we get to learn more nutrition care and assessing a patient. I think it should be very fun and hopefully I can retain the information.

Another highlight of the last couple of weeks has been going to the many bridal fairs around. Who know it could be so complicated and expensive to have a wedding? It's crazy I knew it wouldn't be easy and cheap... But my goodness.

Matt and I looked at some reception locations on Saturday. There was only one we really liked, and a couple that would seat what we need. The one we really liked is booked on every Saturday until November 17 and its 2,500. I'm not sure what it includes because they were going to send the information to us. But at that price maybe its a good thing they are booked. Guess we will keep looking.

Other than work, schoolwork and planning the wedding I've gotten into sponsoring and networking shelter animals that otherwise would be euthanized. It's amazing to see so many people network to help save these precious animals.

I've sponsored several. You can sponsor whatever amount. I make sure that they are reputable non-profit organizations and that I can receive updates on them whether it by pictures of facebook or through email. Sponsoring allows the animal to get vetted (any medical care, neutered or spayed and transport to a rescue/foster).

Networking doesn't require money. It only involves a few clicks to share the animals story so that others who are more capable of helping have the necessary information. Many dogs have been saved overnight through networking.

It may not mean anything to some people but for one creature it means the world. Like in the case of Stanley. ...

Since getting involved I've learned many things such as the pain and abuse many dogs suffer such as bait dogs, the importance of neutering/spaying your pet, the ugly truth about research labs and rendering plants. Not only that but I've learned how irresponsible pet owners can be. It breaks my heart.
